If it’s not a “romantic relationship” then I don’t see it as Poly.

I don’t agree with her and the children thing… BUT my ex wife loved all her exes she even introduced me to one and we became bff 🤣 it’s very queer. As a single mom that baby daddy is not my friend 😹

Ok so what I am hearing is that dating any body after let’s say there 20s. Makes dating every person they had vice versa. So that would mean everyone is in the same relationship of some sort.

It’s a unconditional commitment for two parents. It’s not a relationship.💯 it is literally coparenting

I personally don't want a girlfriend who has a hard line about no contact with any ex... red flag 🚩 to me. I don't consider friendship with an ex polyamorous IF platonic and without romantic feelings. I see it as a positive sign of ability to manage conflicts and relationships in a healthy way if a potential girlfriend has an appropriately platonic friendship with a healthy ex. Just my opinion. ☺️

I haven’t had kids, and as rare as it seems I have never dated a woman who has had kids. Would it make it difficult? I’m not sure, but I don’t consider it polyamory, and I’ve been in multiple polyamorous relationships in the past. I will say staying in close contact with exes and thier friends/family is not always beneficial either. For the record I am not against dating someone with kids, I just never have before, and I’m in my 40s, focused and working on my goals.

One of those things that can only be defined by the people in said relationships. For me it rings true cause I’m actually poly and I view relationships as dynamic and changing.

Mind blown but we do this with our partners having friends or something 🤔 you are not trippin and that’s not poly coming from a poly person

I think what you're thinking is more like relationship anarchy. relationship anarchy is more about people choosing how to define their relationship outside of the societal norms. so you and your ex can have a platonic friendship and co-parent. or you and your best friend can decide to cohabitate with each other instead of their romantic partners.

nah... so kids are different.. but what Amber is talking about is messy and it happens all the time. strong boundaries and healthy communication is important for couples parenting. staying connected with exes for no reason with no Boundaries or clarity is a MESS.

I get what she's saying but that isn't what polyamory is defined as.This is seen as co-parenting.I only consider it polyamory when it comes to exes ,their pets, family etc if there are still feelings from both or either side.Especially if you know she still has feelings for you.Cause it will seem as if you'll at some point want more out of the friendship mentally or physically. This is also the reason why I cut off the contact between my HS crush and I cause she already had a girlfriend but still had feelings for me

That is not polyamory. She’s clearly never actually been poly, and I feel like she’s using the term as a scare tactic in a way.

She needs to look up the definition of Polyamory. She is not even a certified Dr. Co-parenting is not polyamory

I was close to my one of my exes’ mom, I actually lived in her home for a while and she became an important part of my life. Her daughter and I broke up and I kept in touch for a while. Then I got married and my ex also had new relationships… and while my wife never told me I should distance myself, I could see how this affected my ex’s new relationship. So I decided to distance myself after one last conversation. While she made a big impact in my life, I don’t believe we were necessary in each other’s life.
