@kaly_horsegirl: Get a good thigh workout while also training your body and mind to use the right muscles when posting the trot. This created a huge shift for me in understanding the movement I needed to work on. I needed an exercise IN the saddle in order for it to translate for me. While nowhere near perfect l, I think I made a huge strides in the right direction. Let me know in the comments if you have other exercises that worked for you!? I would love to try them. #beginnerhorserider #learningtorideahorseat40 #learningtorideahorse #postingthetrot #trotting
I’m struggling with it too. Maybe I don’t have the leg strength?

Posting bareback is a game changer too and if you sit the trot with your eyes closed its amazing

If you feel comfortable do it bareback too. That really works the muscles that’s always my go to

For posting, look down and when the outside shoulder is forward, that’s when you rise. From there, you should be able to find a rhythm where the horse kind of naturally bounces you up into your post every time that front shoulder goes forward

When I was a teenager about 40 years ago, my instructer always put me on the lunge and made me ride no stirrups and I have always done that with any beginners I have taught. Also years ago I had all my saddles stolen so rode bareback every day for awhile , it made me such a better rider but I was sure happy to get saddles back😆

Maybe try listening to the hoof beats for your timing, when you get the timing you feel an insane difference almost like ur floating along with your horse, you got this!

Here are some things that helped me: 1. Posting in canter (might sound weird but it actually helps with the timing) 2. Posting bareback (next step doing it eyes closed, after that posting normally feels easy) 3. Breathing exercises while farming up
