It’s out of control. A tip is supposed to be a gratuity for good service. Now they ask for tips everywhere. I simply refuse to do it. My rule of thumb is, if I’m sitting and being served by someone I’ll tip. If I’m ordering at a counter or window and picking the food up myself and throwing away my own trash or taking my meal home to eat I’m not tipping. Period. I don’t care who thinks I’m cheap.

You should tip anyone not making a standard rate. Servers are paid lower so they need tips

The big issue is the employers being cheap and not paying their staff. There are still restaurants that pay their staff $2.50/hr!
