My full week sicky routine ⬇️ Days 1-3: Rest as much as possible, manual lymph drainage (helping circulate fluid to high lymph node areas such as the armpit + deep breathing. This is good especially when movement is low or for those with lipidema or lymphedema), drink and eat what I can tolerate, stay on prescribed meds, ankle pumps in bed. Day 3-4: Get a few minutes of sunshine and some larger supported movements. Focus on pumping fluid, not muscle fatigue. Adding more food and water as I can tolerate. Added 1 fruit or fruit juice daily for hydration and vitamins (I had kiwi this week) Days 5-7ish: Gradually add in more electrolytes as I can tolerate and progress to body weight exercise. Don’t want to increase too quickly. Body still recovering! Full exercise likely won’t be back until a few weeks out. Continuing to slowly add more as I tolerate. Nutrition, hydration, and recovery is essential to be back before high intensity exercise Other things: My heart rate variability had a significant dip during active infection. 2-3 good nights of sleep with this rising tells me I’m recovering and ok to add more. When it’s as low as it was, rest was the goal. Not everyone tracks this, but it helps me a lot. Electrolytes were hard to drink with a sore throat. I sipped on water when I could and added ramen noodles which is high in sodium and has warm chicken broth to soothe my throat. Everyone’s routine will look different depending on what illness you have. This was covid, and my dysautonomia flared more than other illnesses (as seen by my watch data) On the mend now, just losing my voice and with congestion. Would you add anything to your routine?
