I love Bahia, one of my favorite places under the sun. But Brasil is very anti black and racist. Walking around Rio Black — you see and feel the hate. Even in Bahia you see like America the police violence against the blackest communities. I cried in the 90’s when I first heard and saw Capoiera in Bahia. Two of my ride or die friends are from Bahia…but Salvador is unique in the manner they embrace blackness versus my experiences in the rest of the country. Revolta!

Please just stress to your Black Brazilian brothers and sisters that were also our own ethnic group. We are constantly being ethnically erased in the US by black diaspora members.

If we build wit AB it would have a genuine and also they would have to put their blackness first not just on paper , but practice , culture ect, just like we AA do. Then we would for more comfortable as a whole to build with Brazil .

Angela Davis wasn’t a part of the civil rights movement. She was a part of the black power movement that came later.

We are very much cousins in our existence on this side of the world, which is why I think it’s important and should be highlighted more. I spent months living in Brazil last year and, although I had done extensive research, I was still amazed by how similar our experiences were. I always say it’s like making different cakes with butter vs. oil vs. ghee. While our identities are different, they were crafted in similar ways — our oppressors are very similar, too. Also, the sheer size of not only our populations, but the countries themselves, makes our identities and complexities harder for ppl outside of them to comprehend. I did find Brazil to be anti-Black, but no more than the US, tbh. There are levels to it depending on where you go, how you present, how wealthy you are, etc. just like here.

I love this and I think it gets deeper than ithis between us is with the similarities. I saw a video of Olodum drumming and they had drummers who did dances very similar to our drum majors at HBCU’s in the USA. Samba dancing (not the samba steps but other movements done in the dance and when they add high kicks) has similar moves to our majorettes. We may practice different religions but there are a lot of similarities between us. Again I love this! ♥️

I’m from the 50s and 60s era, we’ve always wanted to see Black Brazilians, especially your performers. We always knew that the yt performers were appropriating your culture. I’m so happy that you are finally getting more recognition. I agree your culture is amazing, I love it.

@anitta O novo álbum de Anitta, **
#anitta #anittacy #equilibrivm
