If I’m on my period it all hurts more. Also for me if I eat gluten the days before it’s also worse. I’m gluten intolerant. Back of my thigh was worst spot for me.

The artist who was most concerned with my pain levels and kept checking in was also the person with the gentlest hand by far! She was very sweet. Starting a sleeve w/ a diff artist this week and I’m nervous!

I have my forearm done. It was 3.5 hours and i was always terrified of getting tattoos. It was nothing. I’m also adhd.

Have a good size piece on my leg with leaves going onto my foot and the ball of my ankle. It was so painful I nearly had to stop. And I’m pretty heavily tattooed, never considered having an artist stop until that piece.

I have two tattoos. Both of them are in the same spot, below my waist on the outside of my hip, one of the right and one on the left. One hurt and the other one was uncomfortable. The one that hurt was larger and a completely different color. It’s red and black. The colors are deep and I thought maybe that was why. I had never given much thought to whether the artist was happy handed. That could be it was two different artists.

I suffer from chronic pain syndrome, so I literally think it’s soothing. I have 25 tats, and only had a couple spots that were uncomfortable. But it’s mind over matter when it does hurt a little.

it hurts, but I like the rush of endorphins that kick in that help cope with the pain. as someone with ADHD, it lets my brain focus on the sensation of the needles as they work and it's almost like I can meditate on that feeling to stay connected to the here and now.

I got vibrant color with a heavy handed artist on my inner bicep. I did not put together until after we started that it was perfectly along the nerve I had damaged in shoulder surgery. Worst hour at a tattoo shop 😭 it's beautiful but I hope I never have to get a touch up

It does feel good for me, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt. In fact it feels good because it hurts, it is the closest thing to meditation i have ever achieved. It allows me to focus on a single intense feeling, creating the illusion of calm in my otherwise chaotic autistic mind.
