I scratched my cornea years ago & had to use ointment at night for weeks after, because my eyes would dry out sleeping & I would re-tear my abrasion when I opened them in the morning. The ointment was sooo helpful!

Odd question, what do you wash your lids with? I’ve been trialing ointments during sleep and even with applying less I feel the residue spreads into my lashes a bit. Gentle soap and a silicone pad hasn’t really been enough to cut the petroleum, but I’m worried about trying anything stronger to clean the residue externally.

I have mild-moderate dry eye and just started trying to use ointments to try and make it more manageable during the dry summers and it’s been so great thus far. I also like how it helps the skin around my eye—if my eyes are really irritated and watering a lot that skin gets soooo irritated (obviously the opposite of your problems!)

this explains why I use vaseline on my lashline each night, I get really dry eyes and eyelids so I use alot of drops, vaseline and a humidifier.

I have sjogrens and severe dry eyes. My eyes got so dry the tissue of eye eye started to deteriorate and created a hole in my eye. It’s healed thankfully, but I sleep with swim goggles on 😭

This is weird but do you taste the ointment in your mouth in the morning 😭I used something similar and I always woke up to this weird taste in my mouth. Turns out it was the ointment I was putting in my eye.
