Shot on iPhone 17 Pro Max，Open Gate，Apple log2. - What a surprise! 🤯 Except for the first 4 clips, everything else in this video was shot in Open Gate H.265 Apple Log 2. Open Gate mode utilizes the entire sensor of each lens. The edge sharpness holds up really well—great news for those who love the 4:3 aspect ratio! ‼️ BUT!!! Big Warning! ‼️ There is ZERO stabilization in Open Gate mode! You either need a solid gimbal or you must shoot on a tripod. Even without the native camera algorithms, the image quality is fantastic. The footage isn’t soft at all; it’s actually much better than I expected. I’m satisfied with the performance of all three lenses. The new Apple Log 2 has amazing dynamic range. Masking and color grading were a breeze. Even just the basic color conversion looks great—the footage shown here only has minor adjustments. I also tried shooting ProRes RAW, but after shooting about 20 minutes of H.265, I got an overheating warning when I switched modes. Strange thing is, the iPhone didn't feel hot to the touch, but it wouldn't let me record even after a restart. I'll try again next time. (Note: You do need an external SSD for ProRes RAW).
