Historically, literally in pretty much all Asian countries, asian women used white paint (literally white paint) to do their makeup so i don’t understand why westerners think it’s weird when it’s literally in Asian culture since thousands of years 😭

The reason why being paler is seen as taboo in other places but not tanning is because you naturally cannot get paler than what you are, tanning however is completely natural and happens to everyone. And being pale is rooted in colourism and classism, being tan just happens. But being overly tan is weird too
