Here’s why 👇🏻💆🏻‍♀️ 👀 FIRST — save this because I wish someone had explained this to me YEARS ago. For YEARS, every time I wanted to look more toned, my first thought was: “I need to lose weight.” So I ate less. Did more cardio. Watched the scale go down. And yes, I got smaller… but I didn’t necessarily look more toned. I was still soft. My glutes looked flatter. And I didn’t have the definition I was chasing. Because I was missing the most important part: You need MUSCLE to create the toned look. Here’s what actually changed my body: 1️⃣ I prioritized strength training. Heavy, challenging sets + progressive overload. 2️⃣ I started eating to support muscle. Enough protein + carbs to fuel my training. 3️⃣ I stopped using the scale as my only measure of progress. Pictures, measurements, strength + how my body was changing mattered more. 4️⃣ I lost fat strategically when it actually made sense. Instead of constantly trying to stay in a deficit. But here’s what I DIDN’T do: ❌ Try to become as light as possible ❌ Cut carbs ❌ Replace lifting with cardio ❌ Stay in a deficit forever The ONE thing I changed? I stopped making weight loss the goal and started making body composition the goal. Because two women can weigh the same and look completely different depending on how much muscle + body fat they carry. Sometimes you need to lose fat. Sometimes you need to build muscle. And if you’re a beginner + skinny-fat, body recomposition may be exactly where you need to start. That’s why your starting point matters. ❤️‍🔥 I learned this through my own transformation — and now, as a body recomposition coach, it’s exactly what I help other women do. L!ink in my bio for the body recomp roadmap 💝
