Africans only apply this rule to BAs, because America is viewed around the world as a powerful nation. American culture is more dominant and influential than Hatian or Jamaican culture. When we decenter them, it feels to them that we feel that we’re superior or ashamed of our roots. Which us why they try to humble us by regurgitating racist , anti- black narratives to remind us that we’re “not American enough” . That’s why they get triggered when we say BA, instead of AA. Yet, Jamaicans can simply identify as Jamaicans without receiving backlash.

I have sat n rooms full of foreigners due2 carrer paths I chose. Most, if not all of the time I was the only American Black person in these rooms, the stuff I heard coming from ppl that I believed were allies due2 struggle and skin was eye opening.
