singaporean here and all of us are proud of our judicial punishment system, including the capital sentence. that’s part of how singapore is one of safest places in the world to live in and we get to live our everyday lives experiencing no fear being outside our homes at all 💯

caning in singapore is usually reserved for druk traffickers, r0bbers, grapist, and molesturs. that's why people esp. ladies can walk 1 am alone and nothing bad will happen to them. our country is one of the safest esp. for women 🙏

You omitted to mention that the caners are TRAINED for the job. They are specifically trained to cane and to inflict the maximum amount of pain possible but safely. In ideal scenarios each lash is spaced from the previous. There’s a medical officer present to certify that the caning can continue. Otherwise caning may take several sessions to complete. After caning they can’t even lie or sit, but they must be nonchalant about it because would you really want to cry in prison?

It’s because of how harsh our punishments are it’s mostly safe, we don’t have guns and we can leave our MacBooks iPads and even limited edition bags at a Starbucks and walk away for hours

What if you are charged and then subsequently find you were innocent ? Can you then return the favour to the person who canned you ? Only fair as he hurt you in the first place right ?
