@chiassonsmoke: You can go to www.gsc-3d.com/smoke/ to get someone to reach out and see what would work for you. SOLIDWORKS ensures every detail is executed properly. #chiassonsmoke #welding #diyprojects #fabricationshop
Absolutely, can tell how much your project weighs and so much more. See how everything fits before cutting, welding, or machining.

Solidworks is the best! Very big learning curve, but very rewarding.

Fusion 360 for personal use, a little limited but free, works great for someone starting out

OnShape is also an excellent choice for a faction of the cost.

Using the SW sheetmetal environment allows you to build a complex plate or sheet part with bends, holes, and flanges. You can even lay the part flat and save it as a cnc ready dxf.

I need to revisit SolidWorks. Last time I checked (years back) it was pricey. Company I worked at before used them for industrial 3d printing.

Once you switch to cad. You never go back. I had used Alpha cam in my cabt business. I had all that info in my head. So easy to share with your team.
