@sailing_songbird: Songbird’s most dangerous hour hands down. I can’t express how vulnerable I felt seeing lightning touch down to the ocean around us. The thought of the moment after a lightning strike, where all electronics are fried, fires have been set, water rushing in from a blown thru hull, with a potential medical emergency if anyone was touching metal still terrifies me. I took this video towards the end of the storm, when I felt the worst of it had passed. I hope that I absolutely never have to experience lightning at sea again. When we saw lighting, we got into full foulies, equipped knives on our person, gathered boat documents, pulled fire extinguishers, hydrated/ate and just sat around to wait to spring to action at a moments notice.

this feels weird. The dynamic here feels really weird. I don't know how to explain it better than that.

Best part about sailing across the open ocean in a tiny boat in a storm is you don’t have to do it

Anna in NYC :

Stay safe you guys! Truly. Be patient with each other through the storm. Keep us updated.

Ryan Banks :

isn't your mast grounded? most sail boats are. I grew up on a sail boat and we have had three different boats all different makes and they have all had a grounded mast.

p3dr1n :

i’ve never thought abt the dangers of lighting at sea huh. i j thought oh it’s a bunch of water so it’s fine, but hearing you say a hole can be ripped through the hull changed the feeling rly fast 😳 im hoping that you posting means its past now. safe travels brother

No offense to Lexi but she’s killing the vibe. I don’t think she’s the right crew member for you.

Do you have an EPR? Been following you for a year and don't remember you saying you do. I guess phones can send sat SOS so that may be your plan.
