as a turk, i agree with the rugs. my children will get my collection of afghan rugs which my parents bought before i was born from afghan immigrants who had to sell their rugs for a better life in istanbul🥹 i take the best care of the rugs bc of their story & hope the people who had to flee know i care for their memory. also handmade by women, it’s now a dying craft as women aren’t allowed to make the rugs anymore in afghanistan.

I couldn’t agree more!! I also spend money on rugs, art, books, lighting. I will not scrimp on bed linens! I splurge on linen pillowcases, and also antique linens (esp with initials or tatting on the edges). Good kitchen supplies, ESPECIALLY wooden cutting boards! ❤️
