Star Wars focused on the Dichotomy of Good vs Evil. While Star Trek explores the how that dichotomy isn’t as binary as most of us were taught as kids. It’s more nuanced.

Star Wars = Space Fantasy - very little adherence to physics and more focused character arcs. Star Trek = Science Fiction - respect for physics/theoretical physics and more focused on message/themes.

Star Trek is one of the few programs/shows that portrays a future where we have globally become an enlightened society. Most futuristic movies/franchises such as Star Wars are a dystopian society. Star Trek was one of the few, if not the only, that said humanity finally got it right. Not perfect, but the majority finally worked together.
