@huntnhoney: The amount of hate I get when I say I love our freeze dryer is truly unprecedented. Why? . Freeze dryers definitely are not worth the investment for many people, but for some people they are. For example, I use ours to preserve all of our garden produce to use throughout the year so that none gets wasted, I freeze dry eggs for the winter when laying slows down, goat's milk to make soap year-round, I sell freeze dried products on Etsy and in my farm stand, I make all of our own hiking and backpacking meals which cost $10 a piece at least when you're buying them commercially. There are countless other uses around my house and we have it running almost daily. If I didn't have a homestead would it be worth it? No, and I've never said that it would be. . . . #preserving #foodprep #buyinbulk #zerowaste #freezedried #freezedryer #prepper #beprepared #foodpreservation

the over consumption/over spending crowd will buy $200 shoes but god forbid you spend $200 on food preservation. I see the same thing, so hypocritical

Worth it. I’d love to have a freeze dryer to make my own rehydrated food for emergencies or powders.

Ours paid for itself in dog treat savings in less than 3 years. Freeze dried deer organs are our go to dog snack.

I would put a freeze drier through its paces. It would probably never stop running.

Apocalypse Now (1979) Sixteen months of filming for a shoot that was supposed to last six weeks. Two hundred hours of footage. Thirty million dollars spent against a projected budget of twelve, with Francis Ford Coppola mortgaging his house and his winery just to finish it. At the Cannes premiere he said something that has stayed in film history ever since: "My film is not about Vietnam. My film is Vietnam." It wasn't a metaphor. Harvey Keitel was originally cast as Captain Willard, then fired after weeks of filming because Coppola found him too hard-edged, too soldierly for a character who needed to unravel from the inside out. Martin Sheen took over, throwing himself into the role with a dedication that may have gone too far. The opening breakdown scene, the one in the hotel room in front of the mirror, was never scripted. Sheen was genuinely drunk, on his thirty-sixth birthday, and when he punched the mirror he actually cut his hand open. Coppola tried to stop filming. Sheen begged him to keep the cameras rolling. That blood, those tears, are real, and they made it into the final cut. Months later, a typhoon destroyed much of the sets and shut down production for three months. Upon returning to the Philippines, Sheen suffered a real heart attack and had to be airlifted out by helicopter. Coppola, consumed by guilt, had a nervous breakdown and an epileptic seizure. According to multiple accounts, he considered suicide more than once during that period. When Marlon Brando finally arrived on set to play Kurtz, he showed up overweight, having read neither the script nor Joseph Conrad's novel the film was based on. Coppola spent days reading Heart of Darkness aloud to him, page by page, before they could shoot his scenes. The film won the Palme d'Or at Cannes. But what the production left behind, typhoons, heart attacks, nervous breakdowns, months stolen from everyone's lives, remains one of the most extreme accounts ever told of what it actually takes to chase a vision all the way through. #viral #film #fyp #xyzbca #edit
