@alexhollings52: Replying to @MrNobody_1996 sorry, I sorta used this as a jumping off point for a rant about classified aircraft! But yup, you nailed it. #usaf #usmilitary #miltok #tech #airforce

The f117a was exactly what you’re talking about back in the day. The public for the most part never knew until 91 when they unveiled them over the skies of Baghdad. I’ve always believed if they let us see it there’s more they don’t.

Yeah, I was the Navy’s liaison to DARPA for three years. They love pushing their “pet rocks” on us. Some of their ideas are good, but a lot really cannot be operationalized. They also like to steal ideas from Service labs and rebrand then as their own.

In a way, DARPA is the Epstein of tech, if it's a mature technology, they aren't interested. They are 20 years ahead in 1 out of 20 of the thousands of technologies they are supporting development of at any given time

I've worked with DARPA a few times on tech dev platforms - and I'd love to go work for them, but unfortunately gov work just does not compare to industry. It does feel like NASA, DARPA, etc have become more project managers for the big primes than doers these days.
