You guys are saying she was receiving payments after his d**th, but the letter says the overpayment started in 2013. He passed 5 years ago. I’m wondering why they are saying dating back to 2015. This is confusing, but they always notify you. In most cases, they contact the bank for a recoupment if you don’t give it back.

Not true. Multiple letters get sent to people. They ignore them because “someone” - who is not SSA told them such and such. Folks don’t read their letters conpletely. Don’t keep addresses/phone numbers updated but keep the money. Then when the rules are applied later folks get upset and don’t tell everything to everyone making it seem like SSA is being mean.
