@consciousean: I maxed out at $6,000.00 of debt on my credit card when I was In my early twenties. I left America for 9 years. When I came back all my debt was gone. If you don’t make a single payment for 6 years they wipe your debt clean. This will also destroy your credit so be careful. #fyp
7-10 years the credit bureau will write off your debt. in between that time just avoid all contact with debt collectors. I was 19 during the 2008 crash and had about $ 40,000 in debt and it all got written off. just had to wait it out.

What did your credit look like cuz I was talking to a friend about this but coming back to horrible credit is my fear (also not just leaving to clear debt lmao but a benefit of the move for sure)

Yall I wanna say this is true. But be careful a lot of creditors now a days do not play and will file for judgements and take you to court. So be careful about that.

I didn’t pay anything til my 30’s. Max out the cards tank the credit who cares it clears in 7 years. If you own nothing they can’t take it back from you. Never went to court never did anything about it. Eventually it’s gone and you start fresh. I bought a house, pool, 2 cars- living it up with an 840 score.

that is very much not a good idea. depending on where you are they will take everything you leave in your country, go to your family, and the debt will multiply. they will sue you and for example if your home country would be in eu any bank account in europe can get frozen. your passport and documents gets invalidated and eventually you can get accused of debt crimes, and eventually if it's worth the money they will try and hunt you down internationally.
being in debt gives banks a lot of rights over you.
