I think what’s especially tough is you see them being there for friends and family, but they leave you when you need them the most! (I get it, and I get why, but it doesn’t change how it affects you!). Happened to me twice with my ex DA bf. Never again!

My grandad just died (he was basically my dad) my ex left me 5 days later no reason, packed his stuff while I wasn’t there and left. Put all the blame on me. Left me at my lowest I’ll never forgive him

I lost my dad tragically in 2022. Had to take him off life support. My ex didn’t even show up. Nor did he come to the funeral. I’ll NEVER FORGET it.

Or good things. I was awared a huge grant I had been working on for 2 years! He never congratulated me or said anything. I had people in the entire community reaching out. Old partners calling to say they were proud of me. I even sent a clip of it on the news to him. When I asked if he watched it, he said no he hadn't he was too busy.

I’ve come to the conclusion that the only way to have any kind of relationship with an avoidant is a situationship. Because you don’t have to stress over where they are, days without communication.

True, mine ghosted me few days before Easter, than my dad had a stroke, he couldn’t even pick up the phone from me and broke up with me 4 days later just because he felt better alone

eurgh! I've just left my avoidant after 3.5 years. The final straw being me ambulanced off to hospital TWICE unable to walk and talk. Suspected stroke then diagnosed with MS. In hospital for 10 days. He didn't visit once because he "had to work". Couldn't even be there emotionally for me on the phone either. I was his "Soulmate" though. 🤦🏼♀️😆
