@hedgerow_healing: 🌸Fun little fact: I could never remember what this herb was called as a kid, and always ended up calling it 'sweet meadow' instead 🌸 Meadowsweet is an amazing herb with a beautiful scent and delicate, soft yellow-white petals. It grows on long, thin stalks and usually inhabits meadowsweet, bogs, roadside, banks and field boundaries. It has been used as a healing and ritual herb for centuries, most commonly used to flavour mead but also used in a variety of ancient festivals. It's strongly connected to the harvest festival of Lughnasadh, with garlands made to decorate festivities and weddings. It makes a beautiful herbal tea that helps with digestion and stomach issues, as well as preventing or getting rid of and combating colds. If made into a topical salve it helps to relieve joint pain and even brightens the complexion of the skin 🌸❤️ Always be cautious when picking meadowsweet, as there are other (similar) varieties that grow in the same areas that can be toxic. As always, triple check your identification and never pick something that you are unsure about. . . . #meadowsweet #wildfood #herbalmedicine #herbalism #herbalist #folklore #flowerfolklore #mead #anglosaxon #hedgerowhealing #hedgerowplamts #wildplants #wildwood #celticpeople #celts #norse #weddıngflowers #theancientways
