I think they probably did take “inspiration” from your piece but it may have been inadvertent. Like they read it and then forgot they read it and when the idea came to them it felt original. That happens a lot; I’ve had original ideas ripped off by people in the same meeting I first expressed it. It’s how the human mind works. That said I’m fairly sure someone at BBSP read your piece and it seeded the idea; they just forgot where the inspiration came from.
