To: The Honorable Chief Minister of Punjab Ms. Maryam Nawaz Lahore, Pakistan Subject: Request for Revision of Result and Passing Criteria for BS Nursing 2nd Semester (Fall 2023) Final Term Examination Respected Madam, I am a student of the 3rd Semester, BS Nursing program at the University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lahore. I am writing to respectfully express my concern regarding the recently announced 2nd Semester Final Term Examination result (Fall 2023), declared on 24th July 2025. It has come to our attention that the passing criteria that the passing criteria that was 50% in 1st semester has been revised to 60% in 2nd semester without any prior official notification, and the new criteria were implemented after the completion of the examinations. This unexpected change has resulted in approximately 68% of nursing students across Punjab being marked as failed — a deeply distressing and demoralizing outcome. Moreever, one of our paper - Fundamental of nursing-2 (FON-2) was totally from out of content that seriously raised concerns on paper setting and paper verification process of UHS. I sincerely request that the passing percentage be reverted to 50%, in line with the previous UHS policy and internationally accepted standards for nursing education. Applying a revised criterion retroactively is unfair to students who studied and attempted their exams in good faith under the assumption of a 50% pass threshold. This demanding combination of academic and clinical responsibilities leaves little time for students to prepare adequately, and increasing the pass percentage only adds to their burden and psychological stress. Therefore, I humbly appeal to your kind office to take immediate and compassionate action by instructing UHS to reconsider and revise the result based on the original 50% passing policy that was at the start of program. This gesture of fairness would help hundreds of dedicated nursing students continue their education without disruption and disillusionment.
