it comes from the physical occurrence hot water freezes quicker than cold water so logically cold water should warm up quicker but yea physics and sciences and stuff

It’s because heat transfer is not linear so it is true that cold water heats up faster but the amount it heats up slowly levels off till it’s even with whatever it’s being heated to. So it’ll go form 0-60 fast but then from 60-90 might take the same amount and 90-100 the same if it’s being heated to 100

It’s the opposite actually. Warm water freezes faster because the molecules are already spaced out, and can crystallize faster.

everyone saying you have to use cold water for food, do you guys not own kettles? I get not using hot water straight from the tap but like just use a kettle to heat the water and then transfer it to the pan, your water will be at boiling point in less than 2 minutes.

Energy required = McdT, if the temperature change is lower ( 40° to 100° ) it’s going to require less energy than a larger temperature change , e.g. 20° to 100° )

what about water that has already been boiled and cooled down will boil faster than water of the same temp (after cooled) that hasn’t already been boiled?
