This move is the neurological opposite of how most of us live: slouched, flexed, compressed by chairs, couches, and screens. Cobra introduces a new movement environment to the nervous system - and that novelty is what triggers neuroplasticity and NRE. 1️⃣ The Clinical Benefits ✅ Reverses Chair-Spine Mechanics This is a direct neurological and biomechanical reversal of flexed spine living. ✅ Facet Joint Mobilisation You may feel discomfort, especially in the lower back - that’s often due to the facet joints being compressed or irritated after years of underuse. It’s not dangerous. It’s simply a sign that those joints need some controlled loading and movement to reduce low-grade inflammation and increase blood flow to the joint capsules and cartilage (NB). ✅ Disc Decompression Contrary to popular belief, flexion isn’t the only way to “open” the spine. ✅ Thoracic Extension Retrains the thoracic extensors, posterior chain, and deep segmental stabilisers that rarely get a chance to activate in our daily lives. ✅ SI Joint Mobility As the pelvis anchors this movement, the SI joints are gently mobilised and encouraged to glide.
