Quebec French is a standard french. Many regions in France have similar or different pronunciation. You meant Paris “Île-de France” accent.

One point: “faire des courses” is also said in Québec, it refers to specifically shopping for groceries, while “magasiner” this refers to shopping for clothing, jewellery and other things like this

Standard French does not exist and has never existed. The French spoken in France is usually referred to as « Metropolitan French ». There is also « Français international », which tries to eliminate accents and sound neutral to every francophone communities.

Quebec French is totally cool! It combines old French words with modern North American slang. It’s unique in the world and awesome when people communicate and create music in franglaise. I left Montreal 20 years ago and miss that unique vibe

Thank you for pointing out our efforts to not « officially » accept English words (we also have invented words like courriel for email, balado for podcast, and many others). If you’re a language professional like a translator or other, you have to adhere to pretty strict rules and not use English words, whereas in France it is not as strict. As for spoken FR, we do use some English words, but different ones from the ones used in Europe FR. BTW, not everyone says char! I’ll use it when I’m joking, but otherwise will say voiture or auto 😉
