If you're wondering why he lied, it's a simple answer. He lied because he's a cop. They are not held to the same standard as other people. They lie all the time, but yet, when they entered a courtroom, the judge believes everything comes out of their mouth. He lies because he wants to put notches on his belt. Or maybe he lied, because it's a personal thing for probably another cop. That guy knows that that cop is telling him a lie. All the cops standing around him had to know that was a lie. He doesn't have to worry, it won't cost him his job. The very, very worst thing in the whole world is that he might have to resign and go someplace else and be the same cop in a different place.
