None of it was enough, as the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office says her ex, Mike "Little Mack" Williams, broke into Shantay's home — with her four children inside — and proceeded to shoot her to dead on July 11, 2025. Shantay's current boyfriend was also shot and hospitalized. Williams has a long history of domestic violence charges involving multiple women. Advocates say Shantay’s death highlights a system that failed to properly act on clear warning signs. Williams had repeatedly ignored a no-contact order for a year leading up to Shantay's killing, and continuously harassed her up until the final night of her life.
