I used to work on them. They were really amazing aircraft. I do miss it very much. Fun fact, the whole concept of push buttons Airbus has came from the L1011. 👍

My dad flew them for TWA. I got to ride in the cockpit back when you could get away with it. It had the best viewing window from the jumpseat. The window went down to the seat bottom.

I flew on an ATA L-1011 nonstop JFK to HNL.., the month before 9/11. She was and oooold girl even then. The MD-11 I flew back on was a rattle-trap by comparison.

YEP. IT WAS THE PRIDE OF OUR FLEET. PILOTS LOVED IT, AND PASSENGERS RAVED ABOUT IT. THE L1011,WAS ONE OF THE BEST AIRCRAFT EVER BUILT. THE DC-10, NOT SO MUCH.

I used to work on the L10. I always have fun telling people that the first time I flew to Europe, it was in the belly of the plane. haha. I was working the galley and it was down in the belly. oh the quizzical looks I get🤣

I was in business class flying TWA non rev to Indianapolis with my dad flying captain. The landing was absolute butter! I asked my dad who made the landing. He said the plane did. CATIII landing. 😁

Yes, L-1011 programs were screwed by Rolls Royce debacle and Lockheed bribery scandal. If L-1011 managed to deliver their plane at the same time as DC-10, we would probably see more L-1011 flown in the sky and the market would be more competitive.
