These are the videos people who are considering birds need to see. This is the reality of parrots. Not just big parrots, all parrots. Big bird, big bite but a smaller bird could have the exact same issue. The only difference is the amount of damage they can inflict. Parrots are hard.

The blue throat I adopted is the same. He is the most difficult to earn even the smallest amount of trust. He’s insanely wild. I may never win him over 🤦♀️

I volunteer at a Rescue, and I had this happen with two Amazons. Tuffy is a yellow nape. I had gained his trust enough that I could scratch his head between his cage bars. Then Peanut, a blue front, came in. He loved me almost instantly and was a real cuddle bird with me. The next time I tried to pet Tuffy he bit down on my index finger and held on. I was alone at the time so there was no one to help me. He finally let go but I'm sure it was jealousy.

Her beak has 500 lbs pressure per square inch, therefore she can crack your finger right in two. Do not underestimate her feet and claws either. They can do a lot of damage to you so keep your face away from her unless you trust her 100%

My macaw hated me we got her in April and she was out for blood . Just last week she stopped “baiting “ and actually started stepping up and letting me take her around the house without aggression. I’m still nervous but I’m so excited for the progress!! Keep up the great work I I am hopeful for yall ❤️

yes it looks fun and it is😅 but you must be able to read and understand and respect the bird, if you can't do that then don't take a bird. people underestimate birds so easy and underestimate can cause a lot of pain wounds and blood

I used to rescue and rehome macaws and other parrots. I used to tell potentials that if you aren't ready to live with a temperamental 3 year old who could potentially outlive you, you aren't ready for a macaw
