I'm with on alot of your stuff. But this one is no go. That is defensive strategy ( Just like the "Shift") Like the old saying. "Hit it where they aint". Drop the ball in front of them. Force them in. or the infield back then play small ball. Thas what Gywnn or Ichiro would do.

Your proposal is similar to the horrible idea to ban the shift. You want to beat the shift? Bunt opposite field. You want to beat deep outfielders? Hit short gaps. Keep defenses honest, and you'll bring good baseball back.

Maybe change the approach of hitters. Everyone is going for the bomb or bust. We need to get hitters back into line drive mentality, squeeze bunts, force defense to come in vs babysit the warning track. Bring back hitting for average! smoke a line drive into the gaps. Homeruns are nice but have a line up with 4-5 guys hitting above .300 is a recipe for fun baseball

bring up more line drive hitters with wheels. the reason no doubles defense works is Three True Outcome thinking. make different types of hits matter. A rule forcing outfielders shorter isn't going to fix that.

No. But here is something baseball should do. Every game each team can use the defensive shift for three innings only. Also a pitcher for each side has to bat once in regulation and extra innings no DH. And each team plays two double headers. On one game you can use the shift for the whole game but in the other game the pitchers have to hit for the whole game. You can do both in the same game.
