I also love root beer. But each brand taste different to me. A&W is really foamy. Barcqs is metallic tasting. MUG is the best tasting to me, not too foamy, not too metallic.

So I've compared modern root beers to traditional sarsparilla, and birch beer. I've found that a&w and mug are closer to birch beer while barqs was much closer to traditional sarsparilla. The main difference in these two is that when sarsparilla root became hard to get or too expensive birch beer was the cheaper alternative that was made

I like most root beers, but if I was to summarize the main 3 A&W is like the classic, Mug is Root beer flavored Pepsi, and Barqs is Root beer flavored coke. I love them just how I think they taste.

Try Barq’s! It’s the best root beer you can get regularly. Also took a hiking trip in Alaska this past new years and learned about 49th State Brewing Frontier Root Beer…..that is also really fucking good dude.
