One of my fav things about this book is how unsure you’re made to feel about all the characters! I feel like it just speaks to Morrison’s ability + is an accurate representation of the difficulty and complexity of female friends and characters

One of my favorite books by Ms. Morrison!! Read it the third time. It's one of those books you'll want to revisit repeatedly. The characters are complex and unconventional, but in the best way because they’re relatable in certain instances and invoke questions!! My favorite part of Morrison’s novels

i didn’t really like either of the main characters but i loved sula for what she stood for despite her actions she was out casted from society for going against the patriarchy and instead of crumbling under that she owned it obviously it’s more nuanced than this and it’s been a minute since i read the book but i think about the “my lonely is mine” quote everyday
