GM tech here. They all pass. It’s just a bandage to make customers feel comfortable. This isn’t the end of the story for the 6.2.

I am a diehard Chevy owner. That being said, if frigging GM engineers can come up with these service bulletins, and recall requirements, WHY THE HELL CAN'T THEY JUST ENGINEER AND BUILD A BETTWE PRODUCT FROM THE JUMP!!

Change oil every 3k, use a quality filter. Don’t beat on it, don’t idle it a bunch. Use 5w30

Diesel._love :
Go back to 5w30. These lower viscosity oils aren’t providing enough lubrication seal piston rings let alone bearings.

The dealership I took my truck to did nothing for this recall. We were told there is no parts for this recall. My check engine light is on and they would not look at it. We were also told we had to pay $500 to have the check engine light checked.

I can say this. I work for a fleet of around 500 vehicles, we use a 5/40 diesel oil in everything, only 1 engine failure 230k miles. AFM and 3 valve tritons. Haven't eaten a cam yet or phasers. oil done every 3 to 4 K.

Parts manager at a GM dealership. I've been waiting 4 months for my first barrel of the 0w40. The quarts go for $17.68. customers are not happy after the recall is done and they have to pay for it.

Can the test be done multiple times throughout the trucks lifespan? Or is the one pass all gm needs to wash their hands of that truck and close the recall. What if the engine fails past the extended warranty period for the recall due to the exact reason for the recall.

Part of the prelim inspection is to see if the engine has been replaced????? I know Ford had their share of recalls but damn! Ford doesnt ask you that....

So when they’re replacing the engine does it get sent back to GM or does it get scrapped. Asking for a friend👀

Yeah it’s bullshit these techs are doing what they’re told to do. The majority of them are going to pass then they just have to make it past warranty. No longer GMs problem after that. So disappointed with GM.
