The Bible does not leave alcohol in a gray area. Proverbs 20:1 warns, “Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.” Alcohol deceives, mocks, and rages—it tears down wisdom and judgment. Proverbs 23:29–32 paints the ugly picture even more vividly: “Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes? They that tarry long at the wine… At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.” Scripture also gives a higher calling. Proverbs 31:4–5 declares, “It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink: lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.” The Bible says alcohol is unfit for rulers because it clouds discernment and perverts judgment. Now connect this with our identity in Christ: Revelation 1:6 tells us Jesus “hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father.” If kings and priests were forbidden strong drink, why would God’s royal priesthood—those called to stand in this dark world as representatives of Christ—lower themselves to it? The Bible is consistent: Isaiah 28:7 says that even priests and prophets erred because of wine and strong drink, staggering and losing vision. Habakkuk 2:15 condemns those who cause others to drink, calling it sin. And 1 Peter 2:9 reminds us we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people—called to reflect God’s holiness, not dull our senses with what He warns against. Alcohol isn’t a harmless social drink. It is a destroyer of judgment, a mocker of wisdom, and a snare to the soul. God calls us to be sober (1 Peter 5:8), vigilant, and clear-minded. As kings and priests, we cannot mix the holy calling of Christ with the poison of Babylon’s cup. . www.theadventtruth.com . #Jesus #alcohol #seventhdayadventist #Sabbath #theadventtruth
