i found out the hard way bought a pc and the guy gave me a graphics card cable but the pc would not boot it killed the 850w psu but every thing els was fine

I’ve done it too but it was just two different hard drives I fried. After the second one I googled if the cables were interchangeable between other cpus.

I did it not that long ago but I was incredibly lucky and it just fried my cpu cooler smoke and all because it was just a sata cable I forgot to take out the pc so I plugged it into the new psu thinking it was a new cable I had already plugged in

How??? what???? You can't plug in the wrong ports. Its literally fail proof. im so confused. you can't plug into a different port. it only goes in one way. square goes into square. circle goes into circle. Otherwise the ports won't fit. Its fail proof.
