@wheelchairwalks: Old Winchester Hill - Butser Hill, South Downs Way, Hampshire A 10.5km/6.5 mile walk along dirt tracks, some stonier than others! This is not a flat walk (take a look at the elevation on the map in the pictures) but I do not recall it being challenging. This walk would be easy going for an all terrain wheelchair or buggy. From Old Winchester Hill, the South Downs Way continues north briefly along a dirt footpath alongside the road. But the road is both wide and quiet enough to wheel along. The South Downs Way heads downhill through a gate, along stony tracks, then follow the South Downs Way markers along the mostly 1.5m wide tracks to the Sustainability Centre. There is a road junction to cross near Leydene Park, but visibility is good and the road is not busy. There is also a section along a country lane (Limekiln Lane) leading to Butser Hill, but again visibility is good and the road was very quiet (on a Friday morning). The South Downs Way veers off south before Butser Hill summit, but do head into the nature reserve by the disabled parking at the Roundhouse Café and make a circuit of the grassy summit to appreciate the 360° views. Parking - Old Winchester Hill Car Park, Droxford Road, GU32 1HW is a rough dirt car park with a very rutted entrance. There are a 3 blue badge parking just beyond the main car park to the south. There are 4 Blue Badge bays at Butser Hill Car Park Petersfield GU32 1QR which is within Queen Elizabeth Country Park, and parking charges applyhttps://www.hants.gov.uk/thingstodo/countryparks/qecp/visit-us/parking Toilets - The only toilets are at The Roundhouse Café at the Butser Hill Car Park, including a disabled toilet. The nearest Changing Places toilet is Staunton Country Park, Middle Park Way, Havant PO9 5HB (9 miles), or in the car park of Swanmore New Road Playing Field, New Road, Swanmore SO32 2PF (12 miles). Refreshments - Alan’s Coffee Van, in the lay-by at the start of the route at Old Winchester Hill. Beech Café at The Sustainability Centre, Droxford Road, East Meon GU32 1HR https://www.sustainability-centre.org/beech-cafe.html, and Roundhouse Café next to Butser Hill Car Park #oldwinchesterhill #butserhill #southdownsway #wheelchairwalk #accessiblewalk #hampshire #hampshirewalks
