I noticed this in Europe. No one has money but they’ll spend their last dollar on clothes and cars to keep up with appearances. Here people can have money and leave the house in the pyjamas. I know people look down on that but it’s something I can appreciate. I can’t with phoniness.

I say this all the time. Regardless of how much money you have in your bank account - everyone (or just about everyone) takes out their own garbage for garbage day. 🥰

That is true! While there are still some people that act that way, in general, most people with $ don’t. I went to a high school that had poor to very rich kids and no one in my class was felt to be less than that I saw. And my HS had the second richest neighbourhood in Ottawa at the time (so think tech and government people!). 💗

I just bought a ton of meat off the clearance shelf at a Zehrs. Sausage, Turkey and wings. Is it fancy? No. Did I save money so I can splurge somewhere else? Yes. Also I like finding the deals and thinking about what I will make for the house.

Welcome! I’m glad you enjoy living in Canada 🇨🇦. Those are interesting insights about Mexico 🇲🇽. I’ve only been a tourist there, so I never encountered that sense of elitism. I have always enjoyed my visits. The first two visits I was at a resort. But ever since, I prefer to rent an apartment and get into the neighborhood, go to the markets, meet the people and go to the street food vendors. Always a great experience. Viva Mexico 🇲🇽 Viva Canada 🍁 amistad! 🤝

I was brought up that bragging or flashing expensive things around were tacky. I too always like how you see a guy in the nice suit having lunch with a guy with a hard hat. People are people.

I've never really thought about this but almost all my friends have more money or bigger houses than I do but they never brag or show off and they are very happy to be friends with me. No one cares what our social status is. We communicate well as good friends. On another note, welcome you Canada. You are lovely, well spoken and intelligent
