1) Expensive jewellery. I’d rather own bonds that pay me. Jewellery just sits there. 2) Business class flights. I fly business from time to time. I just never pay full price for it, if at all. 3) Buy now, pay later. Paying interest on a TV or a pair of trainers that’s worth less every month. That's a lose-lose situation, I buy what I can afford. 4) An iPhone. I’ve never owned one. I'd rather buy something cheaper that does the same job. 5) A perfume collection. I used to have one worth thousands of pounds, gathering dust and making me nothing. One is all you need. 6) Property back home, when the currency’s riskier than the house. A 20% gain means nothing if the currency halves. Unless I'm going to live there. Then it's a home, not an investment. 7) A brand new car. I’ve bought new before, never again. You lose around half the value in three years which is huge loss in investment terms. 8) A private members’ club. £3,500 a year for a room I can walk into as someone’s guest anyway. 9) Any investment where a random person contacted me first. In banking, the best deals never needed selling — clients were chasing to get in. People rarely chase you to make you money. 10) Anything I don’t understand, just because the person selling it is rich. Being rich isn’t a guarantee. Rich people lose money too. Which one do you disagree with? #ukfinance #ukpersonalfinance #moneyuk #investinguk #savingmoney
