@artofjaynoska: Is “tattoo shock” a real thing? 👀 Yes — 100%. And it’s more common than you think. The average person can only last 2–4 hours in the tattoo chair before their whole vibe shifts. It’s not about being weak — it’s your body’s way of saying “I’m done for today.” From shaking, to getting quiet, to mood changes, everyone experiences tattoo shock differently. I’ve seen it all, and trust me — it’s normal. 🧠⚡ You don’t have to push through a full-day session if your body isn’t feeling it. That’s why multiple sessions exist. The goal is a great tattoo and a safe experience. Have you ever felt tattoo shock before? this why I bring sugar. soda and candy. reason people go it to shock it the adrenaline ate all of the sugar out of their body. And now there's nothing there for them.So they're going in the shop?So if you eat or drink sugar it helps it bounce it out. learned the hard way

It’s ABSOLUTELY a real thing. I’m a nurse and I’m also about 85% covered. My limit is 7 hours. After that, my body starts shaking and I get really cold. It’s horrible. Our bodies tell us when it can’t take anymore physical trauma and tattoos are trauma to the Dermis (Tattoo=Dermal Trauma).

I guess being in chronic pain makes it so that the tattoo sensation is amazingly distraction. I just throw headphones on and unless the position is uncomfortable, I'm good for 6 hours and am kinda disappointed it's over. I've stuck with relatively easy spots so far, but I'm pretty sure I'd be happy for the feeling to last as long as possible. 😅 If only my body could be normal. 🥲

Yep that’s me after 4 hours. I stop talking. I answer with one word replies. Completely zoned out. Now I know my threshold is about 3 hours, since this is the second time it’s happened to me and only on my larger pieces. I’ve also only gotten tattoo flu after my big pieces.

Is it normal to fall asleep while getting a tattoo? Everytime I get a tattoo I fall asleep. I just got my leg sleeve done my 5th tattoo btw and still even when the inner thighs were getting done I was asleep. My tattoo artist took a video of me snoring and them laughing😂

I did 3 sessions with my last piece. 2-3 hours per session and it helped me be able to sit well and the piece turned out beautifully.

Every tattoo I’ve done has been 6-7 hours. Once I get past about 5.5 hrs and he’s packing color, that’s when I begin to grimace. I never have jerked or reacted but the rear outside of left arm was being packed in white and yellow and at 6 hrs I asked him to spray some numbing on it because I was not gonna make it and he was only 45 min from being done haha. By far the hardest one I’ve ever done.

tattoo shops should normalize keeping snacks and juice or water at the shop to combat that
