Why is everyone perceiving term "Balkan" as something negative? It’s just a geographic region between the Black Sea and the Bay of Trieste. People should start seeing the Balkans as something positive, a land of stunning landscapes, interestimg culture, rich culinary, vibrant music, and kind, welcoming people.
Why, for example, does "Western Europe" sound more prestigious? That region also faces major issues, I was honestly shocked by the number of homeless people on the streets in the UK, France, and Belgium, and by the condition of some areas in their cities, way worse than I ever saw in Balkan.
Other European countries were also involved in conflict and wars, just like the Balkans. And let’s not forget Germany and Italy have never paid Yugoslavia a single cent in war reparations, despite the fact that they destroyed infrastructure and took countless lives during WWII. That part of their infamous history is too often ignored.
