Welcome to Lebanon 🇱🇧 Apparently I’m not welcome… 😂 Let me explain what actually happened. When I arrived in Beirut, I was struck by how much destruction there was everywhere I drove. So I decided that for my first video, I’d highlight the beauty that still exists — even amongst the rubble. I didn’t know at the time, but I was driving through Dahieh. I got out to film a blown-up building and asked a local man if it was okay — he said yes. After filming, I got back in the car. That’s when two aggressive men approached the driver-side window. They didn’t show any ID or explain who they were — just started firing off questions in a hostile way. I calmly told them we were vlogging, showed them my YouTube channel, and made it clear we were just making videos. If they had a problem, they could’ve just asked us to delete the footage. Instead, they demanded we get out of the car without saying who they were or why. I had no idea who these people were — they could’ve been trying to rob us, kidnap us, anything. Out of fear, I drove away slowly and without posing any threat. They responded by shooting at the car multiple times. I later said I believed they were members of Hezbollah. And I stand by that. I was told by multiple people, including locals who know the area well, that Hezbollah had recently shot at two others for filming in Dahieh. That lines up exactly with what happened to me. And even if they weren’t Hezbollah, they acted like it — aggressive, hostile, threatening, and shooting at someone without warning or explanation. When people act that way, I’m going to say what I believe happened. Simple as that. I came to Lebanon to show the beauty — and I still believe there’s a lot of it here.
