if the alpha decays does that definitely mean the returns are lower? is it possible to simply up the performance of the whole market by popularising a strategy?

the reason why hedge funds dont trade retail strategies is bc of liquidity not because the strats dont work

can you talk about capital constrained alpha? does it make sense for a strategy basing on a well documented phenomenon to have alpha because risk management prevents the edge to be completely traded away?

Addn Ibrahim :
Alpha is not a stable edge. It’s an illusion created by temporary volume imbalance. Once recognized and exploited, it dissolves because exploitation fills the imbalance, restoring efficiency. Alpha doesn’t exist independently it’s the ghost of an inefficiency.
Volume imbalance is its shadow.
And the moment enough traders try to capture it, they destroy the very inefficiency that made it exist.

Hi man, love your knowledge. Could you also just add and share that lower TF trading is much more prone to alpha decay in your vids! 😊

I understand what you’re saying, but I don’t think this applies to the strategies, retail traders trade, it applies to concepts such as arbitrage, etc. also you’re correct about inefficiencies in the market, however, the market often corrects does inefficiencies by rebalancing, so the strategies built on those inefficiencies die, as major retail strategies do, also proving the true randomness of the market.
