Not a tax exempt story but I had a lady bring me in a check (not hers) made out to an Olive Garden (we were Best Buy) and called me a racist because I wouldn’t cash it, we were both white 🥴

My mom used to buy items for the church but had two separate orders, one for the church (tax exempt) and our personal family (tax normal) she believed using tax exempt for nonchurch purposes was stealing, ya know a sin

The state I used to live in required documentation with ID, which I was always glad of. Made it much easier to deny people that were lying 😂

Worked at a hotel and we had countless people try to use their states tax id number in ours. They didn’t comprehend that it wasn’t a nationwide tax exemption and was limited to their state.

Once I had my job’s tax exemption form in my hand to use for work purchases and the customer behind me in line had the nerve to ask me if they could also use my form. They were reading over my shoulder and trying to commit fraud.

The amount of personal purchases that got tax exemption from churches when I worked at apple was gross. Doesn’t the Bible say to abide by the law of the land unless it contradicts God’s law? Lol oh also when I worked at Burberry

I used to work at a grocery store as a cashier and people would look at me and ask to use my “employee discount”. Our store had a discount card called an MVP card and when they asked me I’d swipe my MVP card because we didn’t employee discounts 🤣. I was able to get all the perks of swiping my card though 🤣
