@claire.tammaro: Just casually asked my gynecologist if we could take my uterus out like it’s a bad roommate. I wasn’t joking. Where are you on your perimenopause/hormone spiral? Anyone else in their “is this PMS or a personality change?” era? #perimenopause #hormonehealth #uterusdiaries #hotflashesandheartbreak #midlifemusings #womenshealth #papseason
Hysterectomy was the best thing I ever did and I still have my ovaries.

Get a new gyno. Mine said you don’t need it let’s get it out. Kept my overies. Best joint decision with a doc who knew what it was like. SHE is the best.

You might want to get a second opinion. Sounds like he's not even open to it and it's possible your symptoms are due to adenomyosis. Ablations have a higher failure rate with adeno and the failure is likely to end up with a hysterectomy anyway. Mine caused blood pooling in my uterus until I ended up with pain mimicking labor because it was trying to push out the blood. 10 months of pain which would have been resolved if they just gave me the hysterectomy up front.
After the surgery they found the adenomyosis and previously unknown endometriosis.

i don’t know how old you are, but maybe consider HRT. it changed my WORLD. i had all these symptoms at a young age and turns out i was just drying up! perimenopause is the worst and no one ever talks about it!

I’m 53 and still in perimenopause. It’s an adventure. Really praying this is the year I go a full year without a period and hit menopause. No one talks about the crime scene that is your period during perimenopause.

Looks at the statistics over 50% of women who get an ablation have to get a hysterectomy.

I just got prescribed lysteda for heavy bleeding, and so far I like it. I get a couple cramps here and there but bleeding is massively reduced. No more overnight pads during the day

I went to my doctor and told her I wanted a hysterectomy last September and 100% glad I did. I would be in bed for 3 days in so much pain i couldn't move or function. After an ultrasound I was told I had adnomyosis (not sure i spelled that right) and adhesions.

I switched to a female gyno, explained my issues 2 months later had a hysterectomy. Best thing I’ve ever done. I feel like I got my life back. I was bleeding to death every month. Had it done vaginally, no incisions no over night hospital stay, easy recovery.

I had an ablation 3 ish years ago. Best thing ever! I had such heavy periods that I was always anemic. Now every month I get the lightest slightest period. I basically just wear a liner for the slight spotting. Go to a female doctor!! They understand wayyy better.

Had an ablation almost 2 yrs ago becasue of excessive bleeding. It didn’t work. Paid $8k out of pocket becasue of deductible. Do your homework. I was offered a hysterectomy after that. Can’t afford another $8k 🥺

I had an ablation 2018. I have adenomyosis. It did not stop my periods but made them better. Although it made them shorter and lighter, I do spot for a total of 7-10 days and my gyno just suggested a hysterectomy

I’m 36 I got my hysterectomy 1 July of this year. I got vNOTES and it was such a great decision. See if you have adenomyosis! I had heavy and painful periods and some striations on my ultrasound. I can’t take birth control either! I hope you get your hysterectomy!
