My advice to people is to never attach a deck to a house. Built a free standing deck close to the house but don’t use its structure as support

Shouldn't that Ledger been installed before the deck was built. doesnt seem like it would be supporting anything being done last. unless the deck had structural issues then I could see doing it this way.
