The reason is simple. When I touch my own face and body every day, I can feel what’s different. The 20 to 30 beauty shiatsu points I press never feel exactly the same from day to day. Some days a point feels more tender. Some days I notice more tension. Some days everything feels relaxed. When I first learned shiatsu at 19 in Japan, I barely felt anything. I still remember my teacher telling me, “You’re young. Your body is healthy.” Now I’m 51, and of course life is different. We have stress, changing hormones, imperfect sleep, and busy schedules. I can feel those changes in my body, and that’s one reason I’m so grateful I kept this practice. Shiatsu has become like brushing my teeth. It’s simply part of my day. For about 10 minutes, I release tension, support circulation, encourage lymphatic flow, and reset. I didn’t do anything magical. I simply spent a little time every day taking care of myself, and over the years, the beauty benefits came naturally. You may say “But you started at 19. It’s too late for me now.” I don’t believe that. Of course, someone who starts at 20 and someone who starts at 50 have different starting points. But there is also a big difference between turning 50 and doing nothing, and turning 50 and deciding, “I still want to feel beautiful. I still want to take care of myself.” Thirty days later, there can be a difference. Sixty days later, even more. I’ve seen this again and again in my own community. What matters most to me is that you never lose the desire to feel good when you look in the mirror. No matter your age, give yourself a little time every day to care for your face, your body, and yourself. We all deserve self-love🙏
