![repost from @slash repost from @oldhollywoodmusicals To terrify everyone ahead of the weekend, here we have Robert Helpmann in his iconic role as the Child Catcher in the 1968 musical “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”. He is trying to lure Jeremy and Jemima Potts (Adrian Hall and Heather Ripley) out of hiding. During the production of “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”, Helpmann was incredibly warm and caring, and would make his child co-stars laugh between takes to ease the tension, often resulting in them finding it difficult to keep a straight face. Helpmann was born in Australia in 1909 and became renowned as a ballet dancer, stage and screen actor, choreographer and director.
