trump said the fed spent 3.1 billion on renovations, powell says that's false, here's the truth, martin building cost 350 million approved in 2017 completed by 2021, eccles and annex cost 1.9 billion approved in 2022 now ballooned to 2.5 billion, add them up it's 2.85 to 3.1 billion depending on final scope, both projects are part of the fed's hq modernization starting around the same time, so combining them is valid, trump never said 1.9 was the original, fed just assumed he meant that, if you track the total fed spend from phase one to now it's 3.1 billion, that's not a lie it's just accountability, fed trying to split projects to make it look smaller, classic budget framing, total cost is real and public, trump was right to highlight it
